Eguavoen to continue in Eagles’ role

Coach Augustine Eguavoen, the Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation, has been recommended by the Technical and Development Sub-Committee to continue leading the Super Eagles as head coach. Next month, the team will play Libya in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches, and the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has approved this recommendation.

Matchday 1 saw the three-time African champions beat Benin Republic 3-0, and Matchday 2 ended in a scoreless draw thanks to the 58-year-old temporarily in charge of the team he had previously coached three times.

For the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualification campaign, Eguavoen and the rest of the existing technical crew—Fidelis Ilechukwu, Daniel Ogunmodede, Olatunji Baruwa, and Tomaz Zorec—will also be in charge of the Super Eagles B team.

Following Mr. Randy Waldrum's departure, the recommendation from the Technical and Development Sub-Committee was approved by the Executive Committee. Coach Justin Madugu will now lead the remaining technical crew and be in charge of the Senior Women National Team, Super Falcons until a substantive head coach is appointed.

The Super Falcons' upcoming significant event is the Women Africa Cup of Nations finals, which will be held in Morocco during the summer of 2025.
