Inter Milan and Juventus share spoils in eight-goal thriller

Juve's Kenan Yildiz scored a late brace, but Inter Milan's Piotr Zielinski converted two penalties in a dramatic 4-4 draw in Serie A on Sunday.

Record-Breaking First Half for Serie A

The first Serie A encounter with five first-half goals was between Inter and Juve, both of whom are undefeated this season. Inter sits in second place with 18 points, four points behind Napoli, while Juve trails closely in third with 17 points.

Dramatic Start with Early Penalty for Inter

The referee awarded a penalty when Marcus Thuram beat Danilo to the ball and booted him in the ankle, starting the five-goal first half. Zielinski scored after 15 minutes to put Inter ahead.

Quick Response from Juventus

Five minutes later, Weston McKennie passed to Dusan Vlahovic, who side-footed in from close range to equalize for Juve.

Francisco Conceição seized the lead for Juve after 26 minutes, creating space and passing to an unmarked Timothy Weah, who quickly turned the match around.

Inter's Henrikh Mkhitaryan's left-footed shot from the area made it 2-2 10 minutes before halftime.

Zielinski scored again from the penalty spot after Pierre Kalulu tripped Denzel Dumfries, giving Inter a 3-2 advantage at halftime.

Inter's advantage increased to two when Dumfries scored from a corner, beating Juve's packed defence.

Juve's lead was cut in the 71st minute when 19-year-old Turkish attacker Yildiz struck a low effort from a tight angle after running into the area on a counterattack.

Eight minutes later, he controlled a pass inside the box and blasted into the goal to seal the thrilling draw.

"We could have done more to avoid Juventus' goals; it was too easy for them," Zielinski told reporters.

"We could have done something more, especially on the third goal. We should have retrieved the ball faster. We left too much space for them. We know Juventus have strong players; they are quick and can score goals."

Juve goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio stated their willingness to battle until the end paid off.

Our slogan is till the finish, and we did it today. I said it would be a beautiful match, and it was; I'm happy with the team's reaction. It strongly suggests starting again. Our team strength was evident; we told each other not to give up," he said.

"Yildiz gave us a great hand, and I'm happy for him; he's very strong, and we need to pamper him."
