Miami Grand Prix: 2024 Miami Grand Prix Formula 1 Odds, and Prediction (05/05/2024)

The opening weekend of May will witness the commencement of Formula 1, which will feature the first of three races to be held in the United States. F1 drivers have completed 57 circuits at the Miami International Autodrome over 308.326 kilometres in each race held in Miami since 2022.

The previous two race editions have been dominated by Red Bull and Max Verstappen, with the incumbent world champion taking home victories in both events. The Dutchman won the race relatively easily the previous year, finishing slightly ahead of Sergio Perez by five seconds.

Verstappen has emerged victorious this season in every race except one, suggesting that his reign may endure in Miami. Last weekend in China, he maintained his dominant advantage by finishing more than 13 seconds ahead of the field, notwithstanding the deployment of two safety cars to position the field. Third place was secured by Perez for Red Bull, capping an outstanding weekend.

Lando Norris maintained his prowess by finishing second in the McLaren F1. The Ferrari drivers competed fiercely for most of the weekend, but Charles Leclerc ultimately prevailed over Carlos Sainz with a fourth-place finish. After finishing second in the Chinese Grand Prix Sprint Race, Lewis Hamilton elevated Mercedes from eighteenth on the grid to within the top ten, thereby rescuing the team from a disastrous weekend.

2024 Miami Grand Prix Formula 1 Odds

Odds as of April 29, 2024.

Max Verstappen (-600 to -550) (1.20)

Max Verstappen won the Chinese and Japanese Grands Prix by an average of over 12 seconds, demonstrating that his retirement in Australia was inconsequential. Although he has won in Miami twice in the past two years, the margins of victory were considerably narrower.

However, his success in Miami and internationally is indisputable. Until another driver demonstrates that he can contend with Verstappen, there is little justification for the odds to fluctuate significantly from week to week.

Sergio Perez (+1,100 to +1,200) (12.00)

Sergio Perez, the Red Bull teammate of Max Verstappen, finished in second place in Miami the year before; no one else was close to securing one of the top two positions on the podium. Checo has maintained a podium presence throughout the year, finishing second three times and third once, except in Australia, where it failed to place in the top three. Although he won two early races in 2023, Verstappen has never since relaxed his hold at the summit of the standings.

Lando Norris (+1,800 to +2,000) (19.00)

Lando Norris has not performed well in South Florida, where he retired after competing in the inaugural event and finished an extremely distant seventeenth in 2023. Nevertheless, his greatest rookie season performance came at the Chinese Grand Prix, where he finished in second place.

Norris is still searching for his first victory on the circuit; following a rocky start to 2023, he placed second in six of the final thirteen events. Thus, the Norris iteration that debuted in Miami this week differs significantly from the one that exploded on this track for two consecutive years.

Our 2024 Miami Grand Prix Prediction

Max Verstappen to win

At this time, Max Verstappen, who has won the Miami Grand Prix twice, is the greatest driver in the world. In addition to being the defending champion, the evidence is that he won four of the five contests he participated in in 2024.

The only race he failed to win was the Australian Grand Prix, where he was forced to withdraw after securing the pole position due to a car malfunction. Although unfortunate, his RB20 remains the preeminent vehicle in the competition.

The vehicle's speed and aggression complement Verstappen's driving style. Bookmakers believe he will dominate the campaign in Florida for this reason. In fact, with odds of -700, it appears that Verstappen will almost certainly win the race on May 5.

It is beyond our supposition that Max Verstappen will prevail in this race. His failure to do so would constitute one of the most significant setbacks in motorsports history in 2024. Having a price of -700, he may not be an especially appealing wagering option.

For this reason, wagering on additional Formula One markets, such as the podium outcome, may be worthwhile. Who, then, excluding Verstappen, will finish in the top three?

We believe that his colleague Sergio Perez will almost certainly be ready. He finished on the podium in four of the five competitions this year, and we have no reason to doubt that he will do so once more on May 5.
