Bayern Munich vs. Borussia Dortmund: Bundesliga Predictions

On Saturday, Allianz Arena will play home to the Bundesliga match between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, two teams who are bitter rivals.

After a 3-1 win against Augsburg on April 4, the Bavarians moved up to first position with 68 points, six more than Bayer Leverkusen in second place; in eighth place, Dortmund defeated Freiburg 4-1 on April 5, and they have 41 points.

Previous Matches and Head to head

Bayern came from behind to beat Augsburg 2-1 last time out, capitalizing on a second-half red card to maintain their push in the Bundesliga title race. With 81 goals this season, they lead the league by a wide margin and have scored 3+ goals in eight of their last 12 league games.

Leverkusen still hold the upper hand in the title chase, with a +54 goal differential compared to Bayern’s +29. For Bayern to close the gap in the final six games, Leverkusen must drop points in at least three matches. Bayern’s run-in includes tough fixtures against Mainz (4th), RB Leipzig (5th), and Borussia Monchengladbach (6th).

Despite recent success—11 wins in their last 14 Bundesliga matches—Bayern have shown some vulnerability, losing two of their last three home games, including a 2-1 defeat to Inter Milan midweek.

Dortmund, meanwhile, suffered a heavy 4-0 Champions League loss to Barcelona on Wednesday but have won four of their last six Bundesliga games. Though they’ve failed to score in their last two league matches, they racked up around 3.5 xG against Freiburg and scored seven across the two games before that.

Currently five points behind fourth-placed Mainz, Dortmund still have hope of Champions League qualification. They’ve also claimed five wins in their last eight away games and earned a 1-1 draw in their previous meeting with Bayern in November—giving them reason to believe they could leave Munich with a result.

Bayern Munich x Borussia Dortmund Team News

Bayern's injury list continues to mount, with key players sidelined ahead of this crucial fixture. Defensively, they will be without Hiroki Ito, Dayot Upamecano, and Alphonso Davies, while Manuel Neuer and Tarek Buchmann remain unavailable between the posts. As a result, Jonas Urbig is expected to step in as goalkeeper, with a likely back four of Konrad Laimer, Eric Dier, Kim Min-jae, and Josip Stanisic offering cover in defense.

In midfield, Aleksandar Pavlovic remains out, meaning Joshua Kimmich will hold the line centrally. Joao Palhinha may feature off the bench. With Jamal Musiala and Kingsley Coman also sidelined, Harry Kane is set to lead the line, supported by a rotated mix that may include Michael Olise, Thomas Müller, and Serge Gnabry.

Dortmund will be looking to prevent Bayern from winning the championship, and they are coping with a number of injury absentees.

Goals have also come more easily for BVB, therefore it would not be unexpected if Saturday's matchup between two weak teams was a thrilling one.
