Bayern Munich vs. Hoffenheim

When Bayern Munich welcomes Hoffenheim to Allianz Arena on Wednesday, the league leaders hope to keep their four-point lead atop the Bundesliga standings.

On January 11, the Bavarians defeated Borussia Monchengladbach 1-0 to earn 39 points; on the same day, Hoffenheim lost 1-0 to Wolfsburg and now sit in fourth position, 15 points behind.

Previous Matches and Head-to-head

After creating eight great opportunities, generating over four xG, and attempting 23 shots, Bayern was unlucky not to score multiple goals in their previous match.

The league leaders had not maintained a shutout in any of their previous seven games before this triumph, and it was their eighth consecutive shutout in 16 matches in the Bundesliga.

According to coach Vincent Kompany, who spoke to the media after the team's first game of 2025 and praised the players' efforts, the away game was particularly challenging since it was the first game after the break. After creating so many opportunities today, scoring one, two, or three more goals to seal the deal is only fair. Contrary to popular belief, we did not.

The attitude and vitality drew me in. There were many injured guys, but nobody seemed to mind. We battled calmly up to the very end.

With a record of 48 goals scored and 13 goals surrendered, the Bavarians lead the Bundesliga, and they are 18 goals ahead of second-place Bayer Leverkusen thanks to their superior goal differential of 35.

Kompany's squad has been on fire at home, winning twelve games, drawing three, and losing just one in sixteen Bundesliga matches. However, they have dropped two of their last six games across all competitions.

It should be noted that Bayern have won 13 of their last 16 home matches. Their lone loss at Allianz Arena occurred on December 3 in the DFB-Pokal against Bayer Leverkusen, in which they were down to 10 men in the 17th minute.

Although Hoffenheim had 15 shots overall, eight of those efforts came after the 74th minute, and they only generated one decent opportunity in the whole match against Wolfsburg.

Since Christian Ilzer took over as manager in November following the dismissal of Pellegrino Matarazzo, fans have good reason to be worried that the team's performance has not improved.

After a 4-3 victory against RB Leipzig in Ilzer's debut game as coach on November 23, his team has gone on a losing streak of five games, a draw in three, and a loss in their past three games overall.

Die Kraichgauer is in a precarious position, only one point ahead of Heidenheim. They hold the league's relegation playoff berth due in large part to their worrisome goal-scoring drought in five of their last eight matches.

The visitors' first away game of the season was a penalty shootout victory against Wurzburger Kickers in the DFB-Pokal on August 16. Since then, they have gone winless in eleven road games and lost six matches.

Bayern Munich x Hoffenheim Team News

Hiroki Ito, Josip Stanisic, Tarek Buchmann, Sacha Boey, and goalie Daniel Peretz are all out for Bayern.

Kompany is expected to start Manuel Neuer in the same defensive configuration as the match against Borussia Monchengladbach, with Dayot Upamecano possibly substituting for Eric Dier.

Since Joao Palhinha's comeback from a groin injury is still in the works, Leon Goretzka may join Joshua Kimmich in a double pivot in his place.

Although Hoffenheim's injury list has decreased in the last few weeks, they will still be without Christopher Lenz and Ozan Kabak, their central defenders. Therefore, Stanley N'Soki and Arthur Chaves will likely start in that position.

With Grischa Promel and Umut Tohumcu ruled out of Wednesday's starting lineup, Diadie Samassekou and Anton Stach are set to start up front.

Due to the injuries to forwards Ihlas Bebou and Marius Bulter, striker Gift Orban may get backup from Adam Hlozek, Andrej Kramaric, and Tom Bischof.

Our Predictions

Bayern Munich to win & over 3.5 goals @ 1.62 on Sky247.ng

Bayern have been sensational at home recently, but losing against Hoffenheim at Allianz Arena would be one of the more stunning outcomes of the 2024–25 Bundesliga season.

They will be confident in their ability to add to their outstanding goal total and improve their goal differential even more since Kompany's side has been prolific in front of goal.
