UCL: PSG come from behind to beat Aston Villa, Barcelona crush Dortmund
Paris Saint-Germain came from behind to secure a 3-1 victory over Aston Villa in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night. The Premier League side took an early lead against the run of play, with Morgan Rogers finishing off a slick move that saw Youri Tielemans square the ball perfectly into his path.
However, PSG, who were crowned Ligue 1 champions just days before, quickly responded and took control of the game. Desire Doue leveled the score before halftime with a curling shot that found the top corner. In the second half, the home side turned the game around with a stunning solo effort from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who weaved through the Villa defense to put PSG ahead. Left-back Nuno Mendes sealed the win, adding a third goal to give Luis Enrique’s side a solid advantage heading into the second leg.
In the other quarter-final match of the night, Barcelona produced a dominant display to crush Borussia Dortmund 4-0. Robert Lewandowski was the star of the show, scoring twice, while Raphinha and teenage sensation Lamine Yamal also got on the scoresheet to put the La Liga giants in a commanding position ahead of their return leg.
With both PSG and Barcelona taking commanding leads, the race for the Champions League semi-finals is heating up as the competition heads into the final stages.
