Colorado Rapids vs Orlando City: MLS Match Preview, Odds & Predictions

On Sunday, matchday 18 of the 2025 Major League Soccer season will take place at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. The Colorado Rapids will face off against Orlando City, a team also trying to get back on track.

This weekend's matchup pits two teams that have lost their last two games against each other; both will be looking to snap their losing streaks by taking home a victory from Commerce City.

Previous Matches and Head-to-head

The Colorado Rapids, a team that experienced a successful turnaround from April 20 to May 15, has struggled since then. They have lost their most recent match against Austin FC, 2-1 to Portland Timbers, and have missed 45 of their 46 clear-cut chances this season due to poor finishing. This has cut into the Colorado Rapids' goal output, with only six other clubs scoring fewer goals in 17 matches than the Rapids.

Denver is currently in ninth place in the Western Conference, one game away from securing a playoff berth. However, they have played one fewer game than other teams due to the postponement of their match against Los Angeles FC, who are destined for the Club World Cup.

Orlando City, on the other hand, had a 12-match winning streak until May, when they lost 3-2 to Nashville SC in the US Open Cup. Since then, they have had a terrible run of results, losing three of their last four matches. Oscar Pareja's squad suffered its first home league loss since the opening weekend, a 3-1 loss to the Chicago Fire.

Currently, the Lions are in seventh position, three points behind Cincinnati, who are in second place. The Lions have scored 53 goals in their 17 matches, which is the fourth-highest goal total in the whole league. The away team, which has a three-game winning streak since March 2024, will be looking to get back on track on Sunday.

Colorado Rapids vs Orlando City Team News

No Colorado Rapids game will be played while Wayne Alix Frederick II is away on international duty with Trinidad & Tobago for the World Cup qualifiers.

Ali Fadal is battling a knee injury and is not expected to play for the home team for much longer than Cole Bassett, who is nearing a recovery from an ankle injury.

The Peruvian is still on the road to a full recovery from the Achilles tendon injury he sustained in February, and Orlando City will be without the services of Wilder Cartagena for an extended period.

In addition to Yutaro Tsukada (knee injury), Alex Freeman (US national team) is also not available to the visitors due to international service.

The 21-year-old Nicolas Rodriguez will sit out the seventh consecutive game due to his ongoing struggle with a thigh injury he sustained in early March.

After sitting out last week's loss to the Chicago Fire owing to a suspension, midfielder Cesar Araujo is once again cleared to play in this weekend's away game.
