Copa Libertadores: Bolivar x Palestino, Match Preview, Team News, Odds and Predictions(29/05/2024)

Palestino will play Bolivar on Tuesday's last day of the Copa Libertadores group stage, their first-ever visit to Estadio Hernando Siles.

The Bolivians are in good shape to progress even after losing 4-0 to Flamengo on matchday five; they need one point to place first in Group E. Palestino, on the other hand, trail Flamengo for second on goal difference after drawing 1-1 with Millonarios.

Bolivar x Palestino Team News

Andersson Ordonez and Fernando Saucedo replaced Jesus Sagredo and Henry Vaca in the Bolivar starting 11 from matchdays four and five.

In their last game against the Chileans, Francisco da Costa's first-half brace set the tone for the Bolivians, who also scored goals on matchday one from Bruno Savio and Ramiro Vaca, winning 4-0.

With cruciate ligament injuries, Palestino will probably be without Nicolas Meza and Jose Bizama for this pivotal match. However, Brayan Vejar can still play even though he was sent off in their 1-0 home loss to Union Espanola last Friday.

Junior Marabel scored an injury-time goal to help them beat Millonarios and tie Flamengo on points—his first of the tournament.

Head To Head And Previous Matches

We shall watch how Bolivar reacts to the strain on Tuesday with a chance to qualify for the knockout round of this competition for a second consecutive season after suffering their first loss at the Libertadores this year.

Though they haven't lost consecutive group games in this tournament since 2020, their matchday five loss was the second time in their last two Libertadores outings that they have lost by four goals on Brazilian ground.

The team of Flavio Robatto has won five straight group games at Estadio Hernando Siles and has a perfect record at home in the 2024 Libertadores.

Los Celestes will have won their group for the first time since the 2013–14 Libertadores when they made it to the semi-finals if they win or draw on Tuesday; a defeat paired with a Flamengo win would constitute their elimination from this tournament.

They would have the highest points (13) in the group stage of this competition since 1997–1998 if they won on matchday six.

Only once in this tournament had the La Paz team lost at Estadio Hernando Siles against a Chilean team—Union Espanola, 3-1, in 2012.

Palestino has given themselves a shot to get beyond the group stage of this competition for the first time after scoring at least a point in three straight Libertadores group games.

With their goal difference now at -3 and the Brazilians at +4, they will probably need Flamengo to falter in their last group game to have a chance to go to the knockout stage, but a three-goal win over Bolivar would send them through anyhow.

That would be quite the turnaround for the Santiago-based team, which lost their first two group games in this tournament by a total score of 6-0.

Since May 2019, when they overcame Alianza Lima 2-1 on the road in the group round of this competition, Baisanos have not won an away game.

When leading or level at the half, Vitamina Sanchez's team is undefeated in the 2024 Libertadores group stage; they lost both games when trailing after 45 minutes.

Their past three away-from-home games have been in defeats; their last win as guests came against Nublense in mid-April (2-0).
