Euro 2024: Spain Thrash Georgia to Reach Quarter-Finals

Georgia was routed 4-1 by a dominating Spain on Sunday to advance to the quarterfinals of the current Euro 2024 in Germany.

Spain and Germany will square off in the quarterfinals on Friday.

Georgia had scored an own goal in the eighteenth minute to lead. Robin Le Normand gave up the terrible own goal when he tried to stop the ball following a cross, and it went into the right post of his own goal.

At 39 minutes, Spain equalised. A deft pass from Nico Williams found Rogeri. It was one goal each when he stepped inside his opponent on the edge of the box and unleashed a fantastic strike into the bottom right corner.

Spain extends their lead a few minutes after the restart. Fabian Ruiz scored a header from close range after Lamine Yamal produced a deft lofted pass into the box. Ruiz outmuscled the opponent in the air.

After Giorgi Gvelesiani scored into his net in the 75th minute, it looked like Spain had a 3-1 lead, but it was disqualified for offside.

Some seconds later, though, Nico Williams proved unstoppable and gave Spain a 3-1 advantage. He completed his magnificent solo performance with a spectacular strike from inside the box.

A great move by Mikel Oyarzabal in the 83rd minute gave Dani Olmo room on the edge of the area. Spain led 4-1 when he calmly sent the ball into the bottom left corner after seeing the keeper off his line.
