New Update
Euro2024

We've looked at the best performers from the final two weeks of action in Germany, with the Euro 2024 group stage now finished. Georgia, Germany, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Belgium, France, and the Netherlands are represented in our Team of the Group Stage of those that have started at least two games.

Giorgi Mamardashvili (Georgia) - 7.70

One of the group stage stories was Georgia making it to the round of 16 of their first-ever big international competition. Giorgi Mamardashvili, the goalie for Valencia, was instrumental in his team's escape from Group F. His 9.25 rating versus Czechia was the highest of the competition thus far.

Joshua Kimmich, Germany - 7.40

Joshua Kimmich of Bayern Munich joins our team after excellent right-back performances for the hosts. In fact, throughout the group stage, only Ferdi Kadioglu of Turkiye (10 opportunities from open play) produced more than Kimmich (9 chances).

Pepe (Portugal) - 7.25

With no indications of his (relatively) advanced age in Portugal's victories over Czechia and Turkiye, Pepe, the oldest player to ever participate in a European Championship, astonishingly makes it into our XI. The Porto man won possession fifteen times in both games and was a typical rock-solid player in every way.

Jaka Bijol (Slovenia) - 7.35

Group C, which included a formidable Denmark team and England's wealth of riches, saw Slovenian center-back Jaka Bijol finish the group stage campaign as the top-rated player. With draws in all three of his games and a stunning clean sheet against England on Tuesday night, the Udinese defender helped his team advance from the group.

Marc Cucurella (Spain) - 7.65

Only Spain, led by Luis de la Fuente, won all three of their group-stage games. Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella has shown promise under the 63-year-old. Given the nod over the in-form Alex Grimaldo, the former Brighton player produced excellent performances in victories against Italy and Croatia.

Fabian Ruiz (Spain) - 8.40

Spain midfielder Fabian Ruiz is our Euro 2024 Player of the Group Stage with a WhoScored rating of 8.39. In the opening triumph over Croatia, the PSG player not only scored but also provided an assist. He also recovered possession in the attacking third more times than any other player—seven times.

Toni Kroos (Germany) - 7.50

Despite his approaching retirement, Toni Kroos, who anchors our midfield like he does Germany's, looked every bit the top player he still very much is. At the competition this summer, the 34-year-old holds the record for the most precise passes in a single game—124—during the victory over Hungary.

Kevin De Bruyne, Belgium - 7.65

Captain Kevin De Bruyne of Belgium completes our midfield. Despite his team's generally poor performances throughout the group stage, he was in excellent form. Eleven crucial passes were made by the Manchester City player in the three games, and he scored a goal in the 2-0 triumph over Romania.

Jamal Musiala (Germany) - 7.75

Germany's Jamal Musiala, who scored in both of the hosts' two group stage victories over Scotland and Hungary, has been one of the tournament's bright spots thus far. Though only Khvicha Kvaratskhelia won more ground duels (21) than the Bayern attacker (20), Musiala also managed four crucial passes and nine effective dribbles.

Kylian Mbappe (France) - 7.55

Les Bleus captain Kylian Mbappe, who had a great game against Poland, enters our Team of the Group Stage despite missing the goalless draw with the Netherlands due to a broken nose. The 25-year-old made nine successful dribbles and fired off 10 efforts on goal in both group games he started. He also scored from the penalty in Tuesday's draw with Poland.

Cody Gakpo (Netherlands) - 7.80

Having scored for the Netherlands against both Poland and Austria, Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo finishes the group stage as the second-highest-rated player at Euro 2024. All told, the 25-year-old produced seven shots, eight crucial passes, and five effective dribbles to return a 7.80 rating.
