When Slovakia and Romania square off on Wednesday afternoon at Deutsche Bank Park, a place in the EURO 2024 final 16 will be on the line. Slovakia wants to bounce back from their 2-1 setback to Ukraine, but they will have a tough match against Romania. 

But the Tricolorii want to atone for their 2-0 setback to Belgium. Bets on draws have a lot of value since Romania would also be happy with one point from the match.

Romania has to avoid losing versus Slovakia to be in the top two and advance to the Round of sixteen. Belgium will not defeat Ukraine, and Romania will top the group if they prevail. But Romania will not be able to advance to the Round of 16 if they lose and Ukraine escapes defeat.

Slovakia must overcome Romania to go to the Round of 16 and place in the top two. Slovakia will come in third place with a draw. Should Slovakia prevail and Ukraine lose against Belgium, Slovakia will be first. Slovakia will not, however, be able to advance to the Round of 16 if it fails and Belgium escapes loss.

It will be an intriguing match in Frankfurt since Slovakia and Romania know that a point will likely see them through to the next Round. Though they both unexpectedly won their first game of the competition, they were supposed to be battling it out for third place in Group E.

Group E is currently headed by a team many had written off as dark horses after Romania defeated Ukraine 3-0. If the other match in this group turns out to be a draw, these two teams will be in third and second place, respectively, which would be significant for both countries.

Should this finish even then, both clubs would remain in Germany since they would be on four points, which has historically been a good enough total to be one of the four best-performing third-placed sides.
