Euro 2024: Netherlands Thrash Romania to Reach Quarterfinals

Having thrashed Romania 3-0 in the Round of 16, the Netherlands sailed into the Euro 2024 quarter-finals on Tuesday.

In the twentyth minute, the Netherlands started the score. Cody Gakpo closed his elegant individual effort with a superb strike from inside the box.

In the 26th minute, Stefan de Vrij outbattled to win the ball from the corner, but he could not entirely control his header and shot it just wide of the right post.

Gakpo pounced on a loose ball inside the area a minute later, beating the goalkeeper with a shot into the top of the net, but the referee decided the out-of-sight goal was invalid.

In the 83rd minute, the Netherlands scored 2-0. After Gakpo helped Donyell Malen, he finished with an effortless touch from close range.

Donyell Malen's remarkable performance culminated in a strike from within the penalty area three minutes into the extra time. He made it 3-0 by neatly aiming the ball into the bottom left corner.
