Finland W vs Switzerland W: UEFA Women Match Preview, Odds & Predictions

The women's team from Switzerland will face the women's team from Finland in Geneva on Thursday, with a spot in the quarterfinals of the Women's European Championship at stake.

Both teams have three points, but only one can advance to the next round and join Group A champions Norway.

Previous Matches and Head-to-Head

Switzerland aims to advance to the knockout stages of the European Championship for the first time, having failed to do so in 2017 and 2022.

In Sunday's match in Bern, they recovered from a 2-1 loss to Norway with a 2-0 triumph against Iceland.

Before Geraldine Reuteler scored with a calm finish in the 76th minute, the game seemed like it was going to end in a scoreless draw.

In the 90th minute, Switzerland's losing streak at the Women's Euros came to an end when substitute Alayah Pilgrim secured the victory with a goal that was assisted by a deflection.

Switzerland, who hold a narrow lead on goal differential over Finland, knows they need to win their group to go to the quarterfinals and face the group B champion.

A tie will suffice, although La Nati would want to win two games in a row for the first time since July 2024, when they qualified for the Women's Euros by defeating Azerbaijan and Turkey, respectively.

Finland made it to the quarterfinals in their first two Women's Euros appearances in 2005 and 2009, but they have since failed to advance past the group stage in 2013 and 2022.

Finishing in third place, behind Switzerland on goal differential, Thursday's match will determine their fate—another early departure might be in the cards.

Before putting up a dominant performance in Sunday's match against Norway, Finland opened the 2025 tournament with a razor-thin 1-0 victory against Iceland.

Until Oona Sevenius canceled out an early own goal by Eva Nystrom, the teams went into halftime tied. Finland had many opportunities to take the lead, but they couldn't capitalize until Caroline Graham Hansen scored in the 84th minute.

Finland needs to get back on track for their last group game, as a victory would put them in second place, one position ahead of Switzerland.

Switzerland has been a formidable opponent for them recently; following a 3-1 friendly triumph in March 2012, they have lost their past four head-to-head encounters.

Finland Women x Switzerland Women Team News

The Swiss attacker Lia Wandeler is vying for a starting role after an impressive replacement performance against Iceland.

Ana-Maria Crnogorcevic is an option to take on one of the wing-back roles. However, Sundhage is likely to stick with a back five of Iman Beney, Viola Calligaris, Julia Stierli, Noelle Maritz, and Nadine Riesen.

A vital offensive danger, Geraldine Reuteler will keep on netting goals—three in her previous five international games.

Finland coach Marko Saloranta may continue to use the same starting five in defense: Emma Koivisto, Natalia Kuikka, Nystrom, Joanna Tynnila, and Katariina Kosola.

Despite only playing for half of the match against Norway, 30-year-old Sanni Franssi is now vying for a starting spot in the last group match.

After scoring on her tournament debut on matchday two, Sevenius should continue to play a starting role.
