New Update
Ghana

Kicking begin their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign, Ghana will visit Angola at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Thursday with the hopes of a win.

These two teams met in the previous AFCON qualification series, with the Black Stars winning the first leg 1-0 at home and drawing the second leg 1-1.

Previous Matches and Head-to-head

Even though Ghana lost to Nigeria in Otto Addo's return match as head coach, his record of two victories and a tie in four games is encouraging.

Ghana's recent results in the 2026 World Cup qualifying include wins of 4-3 over the Central African Republic and a thrilling 2-1 triumph over Mali.

In the second encounter, Central African Republic's Louis Mafouta scored a hat trick, Ghana's Jordan Ayew scored a hat trick of his own, and Abdul Fatawu scored.

After losing Chris Hughton in the wake of Ghana's dismal group stage elimination at the most recent AFCON, the Black Stars have turned things around and are now aiming to win three straight matches in all competitions for the first time since July–August 2022.

The home team has never lost a match against the away team, winning two and drawing two of their last four encounters.

Angola is riding high heading into this matchup, having won the COSAFA Cup for the fourth time in July.

With two goals by Victor Pedro Nanque, Pedro Goncalves' squad went perfect in the tournament and beat Namibia 5-0 in the championship game.

After losing in the quarterfinals to Nigeria at the last AFCON, the Palancas Negras are looking for a record-tying tenth appearance.

Angola will be trying to improve upon their mediocre qualification record from the previous AFCON, which consisted of two victories, three draws, and one loss, in a group that also includes Sudan and Niger.

Ghana x Angola Team News

After sitting out the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic in June, Joseph Paintsil of the Los Angeles Galaxy, Kingsley Schindler of Turkey, Majeed Ashimeru of Anderlecht, and Inaki Williams of Athletic Bilbao have all made a triumphant comeback to the Ghanaian team.

Ayew, a striker for Leicester who has scored in each of their past five games, will likely start up front again, with Mohammed Kudus, a midfielder for West Ham, lining up behind him.

The Angolan offence that wreaked havoc on opposition defences at the AFCON is likely to include Mabululu and Gelson Dala.

The Palancas Negras defence is always with Kialonda Gaspar, and David Carmo will most likely keep his place in the middle of the defence.
