Inter Miami vs. Columbus Crew: USA MLS Match Preview, Odds & Prediction

On Sunday, Inter Miami, led by the erratic Lionel Messi, will host Columbus Crew at Chase Stadium in the sixteenth Eastern Conference match of the 2025 Major League Soccer season. The goal is to win.

The hosts are in sixth place with 26 points after a 4-2 victory on Thursday over CF Montreal, while Columbus is in fourth place with 28 points after a 2-2 draw with Nashville SC.

Previous Matches a Head to head

After losing their previous five matches, Inter Miami finally won their most recent encounter against CF Montreal. This was their second victory in their last nine games overall.

Although manager Javier Mascherano was concerned about his team's performance when they faced three tremendous opportunities, his squad managed to create five good chances.

With a game in hand on all nine teams vying for the nine postseason slots in the Eastern Conference, the Herons have a good chance of winning that match. A win would mean a lot, as they're seven points behind the Philadelphia Union for first place.

Inter Miami's defence has been shaky recently, allowing 15 goals in their previous five matches while scoring 11 goals themselves.

With three losses and two victories in their last five home games at Chase Stadium, the hosts' record is a mixed one.

Meanwhile, Columbus was fortunate to concede just two goals against Nashville SC, despite having seven excellent opportunities, but managed to create only one.

Despite being the fourth-best defensive club in the Eastern Conference with 19 goals allowed, head coach Wilfried Nancy's squad has failed to maintain a scoreless streak in their last 11 games.

The away team has dropped five of their last seven matches against the home team, including a 1-0 loss in the April 19th matchup against Inter Miami.

Columbus has lost their last five games and tied four of them, yet they won five of their previous six.

While the Crew won three of their last four road games, they have lost one and tied two of their previous three.

Inter Miami vs. Columbus Crew Team News

Baltasar Rodriguez, a midfielder for Inter Miami, will be out until mid-June due to an injury; David Ruiz and Yannick Bright are also currently unavailable.

Behind Messi and Luis Suarez up front, the midfield may see Federico Redondo and the seasoned Sergio Busquets.

Since Gonzalo Lujan and Drake Callender are sidelined with injuries, fans may see Oscar Ustari start in goal instead of centre-defenders Noah Allen and Maximiliano Falcon.

As for Columbus, wing-back Mohamed Farsi is suffering from a back injury, while goalkeeper Patrick Schulte and centre-backs Sean Zawadzki and Rudy Camacho are also on the sidelines.

Possible goalie Nicholas Hagen defenders include Malte Amundsen, Yevhen Cheberko, and Steven Moreira.

Darlington Nagbe and Dylan Chambost, the visitors' potential double pivot, might support an attacking line that includes Diego Rossi, Daniel Gazdag, and Ibrahim Aliyu.

Our predictions

Full-time draw @ 3.95 on Sky247.ng

Columbus may not concede many goals despite their current losing streak, thanks to their solid defensive record.

On Sunday, it would not be surprising if they settled for a draw, as Inter Miami has been so effective in the final third, making it unlikely for them to maintain a clean sheet.
