Juventus vs Manchester City: Club World Cup Match Preview, Odds & Predictions

On Thursday night, in Orlando, two European powerhouses—Juventus and Manchester City—will play. Both teams have already secured their berths in the Club World Cup knockout round.

To get things off, Juventus is loving life under former Lazio coach Igor Tudor, even if the Old Lady just welcomed Tudor to Turin in March.

The Bianconeri were last seen displaying yet another strong performance on June 19, as they began their Club World Cup trip with a 5-0 drubbing of Al-Ain. 

With a 4-1 drubbing of Wydad, Juve have cruised into the knockout stage without ever having to shift gears.  Finalizing the 2024–25 season with a thrilling 3-2 victory away at Venezia, Tudor's squad has now won their last four matches in all competitions for a total of 14–3.  Similarly, since returning from the international break in March, the Old Lady have only lost once, and they want to launch a serious championship challenge this summer.

Manchester City, managed by Pep Guardiola, will be under considerable pressure this summer after concluding the 2024–25 season without any trophies to show for their efforts. 

The Sky Blues may have lost the FA Cup final at Wembley on May 17, but they've been on a roll recently.  The former Barcelona manager will be hoping his team can repeat their 8-0 aggregate victory from their first two Group G matches on Thursday.  Man City have won their past fifteen matches in a row in all competitions, including the Champions League. They only lost once in their previous sixteen games. 

With a 2-0 road victory against Fulham to round out the 2024–25 season, Guardiola's squad has also rediscovered its clinical edge in the final third.

The trio of Brazilian defender Bremer, forward Juan Cabal, and midfielder Arkadiusz Milik will all be absent for Juventus due to ongoing knee ailments.  Dusan Vlahovic, who made his Club World Cup debut last weekend after coming off the bench, may be given a full recall.

Timothy Weah, who has been linked to a summer transfer to Premier League club Nottingham Forest, is expected to start on Thursday.  Lloyd Kelly, a former Newcastle player, may get a break in Orlando before he makes a permanent transfer to Turin this summer.

Rico Lewis, the England international who was sent off with a straight red card against Wydad on June 18, will be unable to play in Orlando due to suspension.  Rayan Ait Nouri, a former Wolverhampton Wanderers defender who made his Manchester City debut last week against Al-Ain, will aim to maintain his starting position at left-back.

Rayan Cherki, a new signing, should also be given full playing time here after scoring the team's first goal on Monday.  John Stones, a star player for Manchester City, may play in his first Club World Cup despite rumors of a summer transfer.

The awful record against the Old Lady will be a concern for Guardiola's team, even if Manchester City could start Thursday's Group F finale as a firm favorite.  Their most recent three matches against Juventus have ended in losses, with an aggregate score of 5-1. Their most recent trip to Turin for a Champions League group stage encounter on December 11 ended in a 2-0 defeat. 

Even though both of the European powerhouses may already have their spots in the quarterfinals secured, another nail-biter at the Club World Cup in Orlando might be in store.  Both Juventus and Man City will be looking to claim a heavyweight victory after scoring 17 goals between them in their first two Group F matches.
