Arsenal vs. Everton: EPL Previews, odds and Predictions

This Saturday, at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal will face off against Everton in the Premier League with the hopes of achieving a record-tying 103rd first-division victory against the Toffees. No club in English top-flight history has defeated Everton.

While Sean Dyche's squad has had more than a week to recover after their incredible 4-0 thrashing of Wolverhampton Wanderers, the Gunners are back in top-flight action following a 3-0 Champions League thrashing of Monaco.

Previous Matches and Head-to-head

On Wednesday night, Bukayo Saka's disappointment turned to joy. Following last weekend's 1-1 draw with Fulham, in which the Arsenal academy product had a late winner disallowed, he had a direct involvement in all three goals when Monaco visited for a Champions League match.

After a first half in which Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard missed golden scoring chances, Arsenal cruised to an easy victory thanks to goals from Saka and an assist for Kai Havertz. Monaco had a lucky escape from falling three or four goals due to their carelessness.

Arsenal, who scored all three of their goals on Wednesday from open play, are now on the verge of automatic last-16 qualification. However, they still have some Premier League mistakes to fix. Their momentum stalled at Craven Cottage, and they are now third in the rankings, six points behind Liverpool, despite playing more games.

Despite the fact that Arsenal have been undefeated at home this season, some gloomy Gooners may have already written off their team's championship aspirations after the fifth tie of the season. However, the battle for glory is far from over.

Wins in the Premier League at home for Arsenal have increased to 81% in 2024, their best record since 2007's 84% figure, and Wednesday's victory against Monaco was the third consecutive home game in which the Gunners have scored multiple goals and preserved a clean sheet.

The only Premier League match that was affected by the destructive Storm Darragh last weekend was the last top-flight derby between Everton and Liverpool at Goodison Park. As a result, the match has been postponed until a later date, which is definitely more difficult for the Toffees than it is for the Reds.

On a day when Ashley Young scored a spectacular free kick, and Craig Dawson twice sent the ball into his own goal, Dyche's side would have welcomed their bitter rivals to their headquarters riding high on their greatest performance of the season. Wolves, who are fighting for relegation, were crushed 4-0.

Putting Wolves to the sword strengthened Everton's buffer to the relegation zone; before the thumping, they had gone scoreless in four Premier League matches, winless in five, and had only scored five goals in their previous eight encounters.

With a game in hand, the 15th-placed Toffees lead 18th-placed Ipswich Town by five points. Interestingly, Everton has only beaten the Tractor Boys in a Premier League away game in 2024; since then, they have not been able to score against Southampton, West Ham United, or Manchester United.

Additionally, Everton have lost their last three Premier League encounters against Arsenal, despite the Gunners' 2-1 home victory on the penultimate day of last season. This comes after Everton won four of their five matches against Arsenal from December 2020 to February 2023.

Arsenal vs. Everton Team News

While Thomas Partey's absence from Tuesday's training seemed to worsen Arsenal's defensive injury issue, both players—including Partey in his replacement position as right back—were able to play in the match against Monaco.

But Oleksandr Zinchenko (muscle), Riccardo Calafiori (knee), and Gabriel Magalhaes (unspecified) will not be able to participate in the Toffees' visit because of injury, and Ben White (knee), while Takehiro Tomiyasu (knee) will be sidelined for quite some time.

Timber was mostly used as a substitute in the Monaco match, giving Myles Lewis-Skelly a chance to shine at left-back. However, the hosts are expected to make a few changes, and the Dutchman should start in place of his juvenile teammate.

Everton, meanwhile, have had extra time to rest their injured players because of the lengthy break. Michael Keane, a defender, has a small chance of returning from a knee issue in time to face the Gunners.

But Dyche will likely keep the starting eleven from Wednesday's thrashing of Wolves since Chermiti (unspecified), James Garner (back), and Tim Iroegbunam (ankle) are all out for the trip to the Emirates.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has been heavily linked with a January move to Arsenal, should be able to hold off Beto in the attacking third, even if Beto has gone scoreless in his last ten Premier League appearances.

Our predictions

Bukayo Saka to score anytime @ 2.40 on Sky247.ng

Arsenal has to avoid a major setback in north London if they are to gain some much-needed distance on Liverpool, who are currently leading the league. Following up on midweek's simple 3-0 victory over Monaco, Arteta's squad will be looking to replicate that success here. With a blazing record against Saturday's visitors and a 2-1 victory over Everton in May, Arsenal is naturally considered a heavy favorite. Saka has been absolutely sensational this season, so the England international should be optimistic about building on his impressive run.
