Arsenal vs Ipswich: EPL Match Preview, Odds & Prediction

On Friday night, Arsenal will host Ipswich in north London, two teams who are currently in a heated Premier League title race. Here is our match preview, odds and predictions.

Previous Matches and Head-to-head

To begin with, the hosts, Arsenal, who are currently riding high, may face a formidable challenge in their pursuit of a first Premier League championship since 2004. The Gunners will be looking for another golden chance after last weekend's dominating performance in their 5-1 rout at Selhurst Park. Mikel Arteta's squad will be ecstatic to return to the home field on Friday night, building on their EFL Cup experience from last week when they defeated Crystal Palace 5-1. After a 2-0 win over longtime rivals Manchester United to kick off December, Arsenal have gone undefeated at home since mid-April. Also, since their draw with Liverpool on October 27, the Gunners have gone an entire Premier League match without letting in a goal at the Emirates.

Concerning the visitors, Kieran McKenna's squad had a concerning return to earth last weekend, despite Ipswich's possible 2-1 away win over Wolves earlier in the month. After being blown out at Portman Road and ultimately hammered 4-0 by Newcastle, the Blues have really battled to create any kind of rhythm. After losing their first match of December 1-0 against Crystal Palace, the former Manchester United coach's team has now lost four of their last five Premier League games. With Boxing Day beginning and Ipswich in the midst of the relegation zone, this could not have been a more difficult test for them. It is expected that Friday's visitors would be well favored despite having won just two of their seventeen Premier League encounters this season.

Arsenal x Ipswich Team News

On Friday night, Arsenal will likely be without offensive talisman Bukayo Saka, who limped off away at Crystal Palace last weekend. Ben White, who was a defender for Brighton until leaving for the international break in November, is also still out with no game action.

Gabriel Jesus will continue to start as left back after astonishingly scoring five goals in two matches against Crystal Palace last week. Declan Rice, who was battling for a bench position last weekend away at Selhurst Park, deserves a full return to the squad.

Samy Morsy, captain, will serve a one-match ban on Friday night after picking up a costly booking last weekend against Newcastle. At the Emirates, however, offensive talisman Liam Delap will be available to play after serving a one-game suspension.

Ireland international Chiedozie Ogbene has been out with a calf injury since the end of October and has yet to play since then. Manchester City loanee Kalvin Phillips will be content with a bench role after making a brief debut last week at Portman Road.

Our Predictions

Gabriel Jesus to score anytime @ 2.20 on Sky247.ng.

After cruising to a 5-1 victory away at Crystal Palace last weekend, Arsenal will be looking to continue their winning streak this weekend. In their relentless pursuit of the Premier League championship, Arteta's squad has built an intimidating image thanks to their dominance at home. The hosts on Friday are justifiably considered heavy favorites, having not lost a home game since mid-April. They couldn't have asked for a stiffer test for the relegation scrappers Ipswich, who were thrashed 4-0 at home by Newcastle in their previous match.
