Bournemouth vs. Tottenham Hotspur: EPL Previews, odds and Predictions

On Thursday night, Tottenham Hotspur will face Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in the Premier League. The Spurs will finally be looking to settle their chronically uneven record.

These two sides last met in December 2023, when Spurs won the league match in North London by a score of 3-1.

Previous Matches and Head-to-head

Last weekend, Bournemouth bounced back from a pair of Premier League losses—3-2 against Brentford and 2-1 against Brighton & Hove Albion—to reclaim their winning ways with a 4-2 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

With goals from Justin Kluivert, Evanilson, and Milos Kerkez, the Cherries earned their first away win in the Premier League since August. Justin Kluivert became the first player in Premier League history to score a hat trick of penalties. Evanilson also became the first individual to win three penalties in a single PL match.

In the Premier League, Andoni Iraola's squad is now in 13th position with 18 points; they are six points and three spots ahead of where they were last season. However, if they beat Spurs on Thursday, they might leapfrog their opponents into seventh place.

Even though they lost to Brighton in front of their home fans a little over a week ago, Bournemouth will be happy to return to the Vitality Stadium after winning three of their previous four Premier League home games, including two impressive victories over Arsenal (2-0) and Manchester City (2-1).

Since joining the Premier League, the Cherries have had little success against Spurs, winning just twice in fourteen matches and losing both meetings last season by a combined score of 5-1.

Tottenham have lost their last two Premier League matches after a bold 4-0 away win over Manchester City. Fulham held them to a stalemate in their most recent meeting despite having the lead in both games.

Last week, Spurs were involved in a bizarre double-header: a 2-2 Europa League tie at home to Roma in the 91st minute and a 1-1 Premier League draw with 10-man Fulham, with Brennan Johnson scoring first and Tom Cairney (who would later be sent off) netting the equalizer.

In their previous eight matches in all competitions, Ange Postecoglou's squad has been uneven, posting three wins, two draws, and three losses. They are now in seventh place in the Premier League table, three points behind the top four and five points behind Arsenal, their North London rivals in second place.

As of this writing, Spurs have scored 28 goals in 13 Premier League matches, putting them first. In contrast, they have only failed to score in one of their last 24 top-flight games played away from London, a 4-0 loss to Newcastle United in April.

In the third round of the FA Cup, Tottenham will face non-league Tamworth. Although Tottenham's away record this season is four wins, one draw, and four losses, they will be confident going into Thursday's match against Bournemouth, having won 10 of their 14 Premier League meetings with the Seagulls. The only team with a higher win rate against a team they have faced 10 times in the league is Swansea City (79%).

Bournemouth x Tottenham Hotspur

Bournemouth are still without Alex Scott (knee), Julian Araujo (hamstring), and Luis Sinisterra (hamstring). At the same time, Lewis Cook is questionable due to a muscular issue that kept him out of last weekend's victory against Wolves.

If Cook is ruled out, Iraola may continue to use Tyler Adams and Ryan Christie in center midfield, with Lieuvert retaining his position as a central defender behind striker Evanilson.

Although Antoine Semenyo was also suspended for the victory at Molineux, he is free to return for Thursday's match and will likely start on the right wing instead of David Brooks.

While Rodrigo Bentancur will serve the third game of his seven-game domestic ban, Tottenham will be without injured Guglielmo Vicario (ankle), Micky van de Ven (knee), Richarlison (knee), Wilson Odobert (hamstring), and Mikey Moore (sickness).

While Cristian Romero is doubtful to play Thursday due to a toe injury that has sidelined him for the past three games, and Archie Grey is questionable due to a knock or dead leg, Postecoglou is holding out hope that Dominic Solanke, who was ill and missed Fulham's draw, will be able to face his former club.

If Solanke were to return to the attack, Timo Werner would have to make way for Son Heung-min, who could then switch to his preferred left flank. Brennan Johnson would likely keep his spot on the right flank, and Dejan Kulusevski would look to replace James Maddison, Pape Matar Sarr, or Yves Bissouma in the middle of the pitch.

Our predictions

Both Teams to score and over 2.5 goals @ 1.50 on Sky247.ng.

Even though Bournemouth have only managed one clean sheet all season (against Arsenal), Tottenham still expect to score more goals than their Premier League opponents. The Cherries have allowed an average of 2.5 goals per game against Tottenham (35 goals in 14 games), which is their highest rate versus any team they have faced at least ten times in the league.

We expect an exciting, back-and-forth matchup at the Vitality, with neither team wanting to give up an inch. On the other hand, Bournemouth scored two in each of their last four matches and will be dangerous offensively again, thanks to Semenyo's return.
