Brentford vs. Liverpool: EPL Match Preview, Odds & Prediction

Liverpool and Brentford's match at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon will be a test for the league leaders, who are attempting to win the Premier League for the third time in 2025.

Despite Tuesday's 1-1 tie with championship rivals Nottingham Forest, Arne Slot's side definitely picked up a point in their 2-2 draw with Manchester City.

Previous Matches and Head-to-head

When Liverpool were down 1-0 in the second half against Nottingham Forest, Kostas Tsimikas and Diogo Jota were sent on for a corner and literally rescued the day with their first touches of the ball.

Jota's first touch resulted in a delicate header into the far corner, canceling out Chris Wood's opening goal. However, the league leaders and their traveling supporters could still feel the anguish. Tsimikas sent the ball into the mixer first.

The heroics of goalkeeper Matz Sels and man-mountain defender Murillo cost Liverpool a vital three points. Arsenal's victory over Tottenham Hotspur in Wednesday's North London derby has trimmed Liverpool's lead atop the Premier League.

Even though they still have a game in hand and a commanding four-point lead, the Reds have begun to falter significantly in 2025. Their lone victory came in a 4-0 FA Cup thrashing of Accrington Stanley.

If Liverpool loses in West London, they will go three games without a victory in the Premier League. However, under Slot's leadership, the Reds have not lost an away match in the league this season, and their undefeated streak in the competition is currently 16 games long.

The Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford had already lost its position as a fortress before Man City's visit, having fallen to Nottingham Forest, Arsenal, and—surprisingly—Plymouth Argyle in a row. Liverpool is now riding an unbeaten away streak.

After Phil Foden scored twice in the second half, it seemed like the Bees were heading towards a fourth consecutive home loss. However, Yoane Wissa's swift response set up a thrilling final, and Christian Norgaard's late header equalized the game, a genuine captain's contribution.

Brentford is playing like a club from the bottom half of the league, thanks to the midfielder's bedlam-inducing equalizer. Still, they are only barely hanging on to a top-half position for the time being (until Thursday, when Brighton & Hove Albion's match against Ipswich Town ends).

The Bees have only won one of their last eight matches in all competitions. Although they have scored 29 goals at home this season, they are tied for the league high with Southampton (27), West Ham United (24), and Wolverhampton Wanderers (23).

Liverpool has won their previous four Premier League head-to-head matches and scored in every one of their 22 encounters against Brentford, with the only exception being a scoreless First Division stalemate in 1936. Brentford has also struggled mightily to keep a clean sheet in this matchup.

Brentford x Liverpool Team news

On Saturday, Darwin Nunez will return from suspension, bolstering Liverpool's attacking ranks. However, after scoring the Reds' fastest Premier League substitute goal ever, Jota is unquestionably in position to start up front.

While rumors persist that Liverpool are moving forward with a bid for Patrick Dorgu of Lecce to replace Andy Robertson—whose performance at the City Ground split opinion—Assister Tsimikas has also entered the race.

Joe Gomez, who hurt his hamstring in late December, will be out for at least a few more weeks before returning to the visitors' lineup. That leaves only Gomez as an injury doubt.

But Brentford's injury woes continue as Gustavo Nunes (back), Ethan Pinnock (thigh), Kristoffer Ajer (ankle), Aaron Hickey (thigh), Igor Thiago (knee), and Ryan Trevitt (Achilles) are all once again ruled out of competition.

But Rico Henry's homecoming was much-appreciated; in Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Manchester City, the left defender made his Premier League debut since September 2023, coming on as a late substitute for Mads Roerslev.

Frank may believe that Keane Lewis-Potter is better suited to deal with Mohamed Salah because he has plenty of game time. Still, Henry, who played for just over an hour in the FA Cup loss to Plymouth, is in line to make his long-awaited Premier League debut on Saturday.

Our predictions

Liverpool to win @ 1.43 on Sky247.ng

At the Gtech Community Stadium, goals are almost inevitable. Brentford should take advantage of a Liverpool team that hasn't been able to replicate its 2024 level of brutality so far in 2025.

The Reds should be able to fight fire with fire and get their championship race back on track, although Slot has plenty of alternatives for substitutions, and Brentford still hasn't maintained a single home clean sheet this season.
