Chelsea vs Wolves: EPL Match Preview, Odds & Prediction

On Monday night, Chelsea will host Wolves at Stamford Bridge in an effort to provide a much-needed lift to their Premier League standing. Will Chelsea get back to winning ways? Here are our match analysis and predictions

Previous Matches and Head-to-head

To begin with the hosts, Chelsea are looking for some consistency after a wild start with Enzo Maresca's summer arrival, but they aren't satisfied just yet.

The former Leicester manager's team has gone winless in its past five Premier League outings, despite scoring a thrilling equaliser at home against Bournemouth in its most recent outing. In addition to seeing its championship hopes eroded over the last month, Maresca's squad has shown persistent defensive issues.

Even though Chelsea continued their FA Cup journey last week with a straightforward 5-0 thrashing of League Two side Morecambe, they have failed to keep a single Premier League clean sheet since December 1st.

Regarding the guests, Wolves may have gotten Vitor Pereira's tenure off to a spectacular start, but the Old Gold has gotten back to earth since the beginning of the new year. The former Flamengo manager will be well aware of the serious task ahead of him at Molineux after another concerning performance in their 3-0 thrashing of Newcastle.

Wolves are in the thick of a relegation battle as the new year of 2025 begins with yet another 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest. Fans attending on Monday should be worried about their team's recent loss to Chelsea, which sent them back into the relegation zone. After suffering a nail-biting 6-2 loss at the hands of the Blues on August 25th at Molineux, Pereira's squad will face another formidable challenge in this encounter.

Chelsea x Wolves Team News

No appearance from Carney Chukwuemeka, Ben Chilwell, or Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, all of whom are anticipated to depart Stamford Bridge this month. Like Wesley Fofana, the French defender who has been out since the beginning of December due to a long-term muscle problem, he will also sit this one out in west London.

Cole Palmer, the team's offensive talisman, will start up front as they look to beat Bournemouth and extend their Premier League scoring streak to 14 goals this season. This might be Reece James' first Premier League start since November 3rd, after coming off the bench to grab an incredible last-gasp equalizer at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.

Enso Gonzalez, Sasa Kalajdzic, Boubacar Traore, and Yerson Mosquera, a Colombian midfielder, will not play since they are all still nursing knee ailments. Toti, a Portuguese international who has failed to play once in the previous month, will sit out Monday night's match at Stamford Bridge.

Full return for offensive talisman and former Atletico Madrid marksman Matheus Cunha after his benching against Newcastle. Jose Sa, who seems to have solidified his position as Pereira's first option, deserves to remain in goal.

Our Predictions

Chelsea is to win Half time @ 1.70 on Sky247.ng.

Chelsea are looking for a much-appreciated Premier League lift after being forced to settle for a 2-2 draw at home against Bournemouth earlier in the week. The hosts on Monday should be sniffing blood in this matchup, as they have lost all five of their previous meetings against teams from the top tier. Wolves were drilled 3-0 by Newcastle and Nottingham Forest before the new year began, so it's a little wonder that Maresca's squad is being penciled in as a top contender in west London.
