Liverpool’s Premier League Title Charge Still on Track Despite Fulham Slip-Up

Liverpool’s march towards the Premier League title hit a rare speed bump on Sunday, as Arne Slot's side suffered a 3-2 defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage. The result marked their first away loss of the campaign and ended a remarkable 26-match unbeaten league run. Yet, the title remains firmly within their grasp — and they could still be crowned champions as early as May 4.

The Reds initially looked in control when Alexis Mac Allister fired them into the lead, but Fulham turned the tie around with a spirited response. Goals from Ryan Sessegnon, Alex Iwobi, and Rodrigo Muniz stunned the league leaders, and though Luis Díaz pulled one back to set up a tense finish, Liverpool couldn’t find a late equaliser.

Despite the setback, Liverpool's title hopes remain bright. They now require a maximum of 11 more points to mathematically seal the championship, with Arsenal trailing by that margin. Crucially, the earliest Liverpool can officially clinch the title is May 4, provided they win their next four games.

Those fixtures include West Ham, Leicester City, Tottenham, and Chelsea, with the potential title-deciding moment coming at Stamford Bridge in early May. Should they maintain a perfect run through that stretch, the Reds could be celebrating their first Premier League crown since 2019–20 in west London.

However, the champagne could be on ice even earlier — depending on Arsenal’s results. If Mikel Arteta’s men drop points in any of their next four matches — against Brentford, Ipswich, Crystal Palace, or Bournemouth — Liverpool's path to the title will shorten significantly.

Slot and his players will be aware that the title race is not over yet, but they remain in full control of their destiny. Sunday’s loss may have dented their aura of invincibility, but with the finish line in sight, Liverpool fans can already start counting down the points.
