Following last weekend's triumph, Nigeria will go to Rwanda for the second leg of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification series.

While the Wasps salvaged a tie against Libya, the Super Eagles cruised to a first-match qualifying series victory against Benin.

Previous Matches and Head-to-head

Despite one victory, one draw, and one loss, Rwanda could only go beyond the group stage in the 2004 African Cup of Nations in Tunisia.

Last Wednesday, the Wasps played Libya in Tripoli to open their quest to qualify for the 2025 edition. The hosts took the lead via Sobi Al Dawi in the 16th minute, but Torsten Spittler's team equalized through Innocent Nshuti early in the second half.

The Wasps will be hoping to keep up their impressive success under Spittler, who took over in November. They have lost just once, won three times, and drawn once in seven matches. They are undefeated in their previous two matches and will play Nigeria in their next encounter.

But after failing to win in their last five encounters, his next task will be to assist Rwanda in recording their first win over Tuesday's opponents.

Last Saturday, the Super Eagles were crowned with a 3-0 victory against Benin at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, marking Augustine Eguavoen's official start to his tenure as temporary manager.

Ademola Lookman, a striker for Atalanta, scored a spectacular solo goal for Nigeria right before halftime after his candidacy for the Ballon d'Or.

Victor Osimhen, a new player for Galatasaray, extended the lead in the 78th minute with a one-touch finish from a cross. Lookman then headed in his second game goal in the 83rd minute to win it.

The Super Eagles snapped a three-match losing streak and are now atop Group D. They will face Rwanda on Tuesday.

This will be the sixth match between the two teams, although the Super Eagles have a slight advantage with a record of 2 wins and three draws. That includes a pair of victories at home and a tie away from the 2012 AFCON qualifiers.

Rwanda x Nigeria Team News

26-year-old striker Nshuti, who has scored four goals in 18 matches for Rwanda, is expected to start up front once again.

With 63 caps, right-back Fitina Omborenga is now the sixth most-capped player for the Wasps. He is set to tie for fifth place on Tuesday, only one cap away.

Osimhen, now the reigning African Player of the Year, scored for Nigeria in their previous match after coming off the bench; he will likely start this match.

Lookman, who scored twice and was chosen man of the match against Benin, will start alongside Osimhen, and Samuel Chukwueze, who had an outstanding performance last Saturday, should round out the starting lineup.

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, a midfielder for Lazio, impressed during his brief appearance against Benin and is now in the running for a starting role.
