New Update
Toronto vs Inter Miami

On Saturday, Toronto will host Inter Miami in their concluding regular-season match of the 2024 Major League Soccer (MLS) campaign at BMO Field.

The Reds are currently in ninth place in the Eastern Conference, having suffered a 4-1 loss to the New York Red Bulls in midweek. Conversely, the Herons have formally secured the Supporters' Shield title with a 3-2 victory over the Columbus Crew.

Previous Matches and Head-to-head

Toronto's decision day is scheduled for Saturday, and they are currently above the playoff line due to their eleven victories, which surpass those of the Philadelphia Union (nine) and DC United (nine).

However, their postseason fate is no longer in their control as they prepare for this forthcoming matchup following their loss on Wednesday.

DC and the Union would be required to accumulate four points from their final two league games if they prevailed against Miami. However, John Herdman's team is still eligible for the postseason even if they suffer a loss; however, this is contingent upon the other two teams in the standings losing their final two games.

The Reds have suffered nine defeats at home in the competition this year and have lost two consecutive league fixtures at BMO Field.

Toronto FC conceded three goals in 90 minutes at BMO Field six times during the regular season, while they scored one or fewer goals in three of their last four MLS home games.

The last home encounter between the Herons and TFC was won by the former a season ago, with a 2-0 victory in March 2023. This was the first of only four victories in the competition that year.

Miami will conclude the 2024 regular season with the most impressive record in Major League Soccer, as was anticipated. The announcement was made on Wednesday.

The 2021 New England Revolution currently holds the current league record of 73 points in a single campaign, which the Herons would surpass with two victories in their final two games before the postseason.

Inter Miami has experienced only four losses in 32 domestic matches this year, the lowest number in MLS. This will be the lowest number of losses for the team in a single season, irrespective of the outcome of their final two games.

Thus far this year, the Herons have scored 72 goals in MLS, the most by any team in this competition since the Philadelphia Union in 2022 (72). An additional goal this weekend would surpass the number of goals scored by any team in the regular season since Los Angeles FC (85) in 2019.

Tata Martino's team has scored points in four consecutive league games played outside of Fort Lauderdale; however, they still need to accumulate points in two of their most recent three road games.

They have prevailed in eight of the previous nine encounters with Toronto, with their most recent victory at BMO Field occurring in 2022 (1-0).

Our Predictions

Inter Miami to win @ 2.75 on Sky247.ng

Miami has demonstrated that they are among the most talented and innovative teams in the league in terms of their offensive capabilities, and we anticipate that this trend will persist when they face a defensive unit in Toronto that is still grappling with its own set of challenges.
